Sunil Chhetri started is football career for school teams and then for his local club, City Club. Renowned for its delivery to the game, ball control and ability to strike, early attracted the attention not only nationally but internationally. In 2006/07 season has even win the award for Best Player of the Year and Best Forward.
In January 25, 2009 Sunil arrived England to start a trial with Coventry City; however, four days after it was announced his discharge. In August 2009 a new setback for Sunil's career, when he saw the three-year contract with Queen's Park Rangers be revoked by imposition of the British government.
He joined the Kansas City Wizards, the March 24, 2010, becoming the first indian player to represent a Major League Soccer club. However, Sunil only played for two times, which earned him a dismissal and return to India.
